How to improve typing speed

With consistent practice, most people start to see noticeable improvements within a few weeks. Regular daily practice sessions of 10-15 minutes can enhance your typing speed over time.
Let’s discover the best ways to improve typing speed and accuracy. The following are recommendations, not absolute rules.

Hand Positioning

1.
Home Row Keys Position your fingers over the home row keys: ASDF for the left hand and JKL; for the right hand. This maintains a natural and efficient typing posture.
2.
Wrist Position Keep your wrists straight and avoid resting them on the keyboard or desk while typing.
3.
Hand Angle Position your hands at a slight angle to allow your fingers to naturally curve and reach the keys. Avoid bending your wrists upwards or downwards.

Keyboard Settings

1.
Keyboard Choice Choose a keyboard that suits your typing style. Mechanical keyboards provide tactile feedback, improving speed and accuracy. Ergonomic keyboards reduce strain on your hands and wrists.
2.
Layout Familiarity Ensure the keyboard layout is standard and familiar to avoid unnecessary strain from adapting to a different layout.

Body Conditions

1.
Ergonomics Ensure your chair and desk are at the correct height. Your elbows should be at a 90-degree angle, and your feet should be flat on the floor.
2.
Monitor Distance Maintain the proper distance between your eyes and the monitor. Look straight ahead instead of down at the physical keyboard.
3.
Nail Length Keep your nails well-trimmed to allow your fingers to make direct contact with the keys. If you prefer longer nails, ensure they do not hinder your ability to press keys easily.
The best way to increase your typing speed is through practice, creating a typing environment that suits your body, and using various key combinations.
